Strategy & Data Associate - 2025 Summer Internship
Key Responsibilities
Your summer internship will run for 6-8 weeks and will start off with a week of training introducing you to the business. Following this, you will become a full-fledged member of the team and have similar responsibilities to our Associate Consultants. The internship will be structured so that you have exposure to some of our client-facing work. The type of work will vary significantly depending on the project but can include:
- Supporting the development of hypotheses for “the answer” and defining tests to validate or disprove these hypotheses
- Undertaking exploratory analysis to develop the burden of proof for hypotheses
- Developing Machine Learning models in Python or R, for applications such as customer segmentation, marketing strategy and optimisation, pricing strategy, etc.
- Supporting the deployment of data platforms, visualisation & Machine Learning models in the client’s technical and business architecture
- Acting as a business partner to senior colleagues to advise on strategic decisions
- Collaborating with client teams to ensure successful delivery of projects, which can include helping ensure access to data, setting up collaboration processes, etc.
In addition to client-facing work, you will also have the opportunity to support internal IP development – working with the team to understand how we can implement new technologies to improve our processes, better define our proposition, develop methodologies etc. For example, our summer intern last year developed the team’s internal LLM to improve our efficiency.
Core Skillset
To be considered for this programme, you must be in your penultimate year of study. We believe that a successful candidate will possess the following skills:
- Exceptional business acumen and “commercial knack”: Having a good sense for where opportunities for growth and optimisation exist within a business, being able to relate technical aspects into their business impact, etc.
- Strong analytical profile: An ability to dissect business problems through analysis end-to-end, i.e. to define an approach, execute it, and critically analyse its results. A general ability to work with numbers and data.
- Collaboration and team work: An ability to work in small, fast-paced teams – being able to understand one’s role within the project structure, deliver against it, and be flexible when needed.
- An entrepreneurial mindset: DVS is a fast-growing startup and as such is suited to someone with an entrepreneurial mindset. This means having the ability to be flexible, proactive, and to get things done – even if these are not things you have done before, or even know how to!
